Christmas Zone Conference
Monday: We Had FHE with a member and it was super good! We talked about how we can be better people and how we can all be doing something to be the best person we can be! We also had a lesson with this super energetic man that was standing and pointing to the sky and saying that God is a spirit of love and all that jazz. The spirit of love is a God given gift but God has a body and we are created after his image
Tuesday: So, the people of Sweden are not very good at using snow plows because I don't see them anywhere! They just drive on the snow and through some rocks on the snow when it turns to ice and call it good. Well when it starts to rain again it becomes really slippery and very difficult to ride bikes. Let's just say that we tried to ride our bikes and then both happened to slip at the same exact time not that far from our apartment
Nothing serious but quite funny. Well after we did some finding and taught one of our peeps, we headed off to my second Zone Conference! We were able to stay in Jakobsberg with Äldste Peterson from my MTC group and we got off the write train (but don't worry we had our trouble with public transportation later
but at the moment we thought we were fine). It was cool to see him and see how much we have learned with the language. Also, while waiting for them to show up at their apartment I went to IKEA for the first time here in Sweden, well to the cafeteria where they serve some killer soft served vanilla ice cream!
Wednesday: Zone conference with Norrland! We woke up and got ready and then went to the bus stop to take us to the station where we would take a train to Zone conference but remember the part about us doing something wrong with public transportation well we got on the wrong bus and went to the wrong station! So we had to do some quick planning and luckily we had to buy some bus cards to use the bus in Jakobsberg so we were able to get on a different train and arrived to Zone conference only 30 minutes late
. We got a lift from our wonderful APs and so on. Then zone conference was amazing! We went over the new Missionary Standards and what was different. We also found out that they will be taking effect right then so no more white handbook for me! (but really everything is still the same just described a little more vague) We had a little Christmas celebration with everyone were we watched a MOVIE! Yes you heard me a MOVIE!! We watched "It's a Wonderful Life" and it was so good! We then got some really cool tree ornaments that are like name badges. I was also able to have a fun time with half of my MTC district and was able to see them for the first time because I am new here in the zone and haven't seen everyone in so long. After that we went home and lucky we were able to take all of the right trains and that is a shocker because there were 3! Then our branch president surprised us with some awesome pizzas that they made! It was just a great day.
Thursday: We taught some of the members here and showed them the Christ Child. Every time I watch it, I am just in awe of how amazing it is! We then celebrated Sinter Klass, which is a Dutch holiday that Äldste Jacksons family celebrates. We had some Fandu and some traditional other stuff that his family usually does for this day!
Friday: We taught the members that we are there ministers. It is always cool to hear others testimonies of Jesus Christ and stuff like that. I always feel the spirit when others share their testimony. Then after just repairing Äldste Jacksons tire, the rocks struck again and popped it again. He has not had great luck with his bike this transfer and it has almost been popped the entire week so we have done a lot of walking around Katrineholms and it has been a great way for me to get to know the area!
Saturday: We did a lot of finding and knocking on doors. I did find something in my personal study that I wanted to share! It is in 3 Nephi 9: 14 "Yea, verily I say unto you, if ye will come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me." I loved this passage because this is when Christ talks to Nephites and the Lamanites before He shows Himself. They are in darkness and Jesus says that He is there for them and that He will still be waiting for them to repent and prepare for when He comes!
Sunday: Today we had church and we had an awesome time. Some people from the stake spoke and one of our people that we are teaching showed up!!!! That was exciting to see him there and to have him be able to hear about institute and stuff because I think that is just what he needs if only they didn't meet so far away from Katrineholm! After that we did some finding and tried to help and find ways to help others but everyone here in Sweden finds it very hard to accept help from others even if they need it! I just want to ignore that they said they didn't want help and help them anyways but that would just make matters worse so I don't, which is hard sometimes. But other then that is has been a wonderful week and time really is flying by!
Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!
